Our college recently came alive with festive energy during the GIS Raya Celebration. Honestly, it was one of the best days on campus this semester.
With the slogan “Feel the Vibe, Make it Meletop,” the initiative was led by the Student Representative Council (SRC) of the Global Institute of Studies (GIS). Under the guidance of SRC advisors and GIS lecturers, SRC committee members managed the entire process, from preparing the ingredients to cooking in large pots and setting up the venue.
Leadership Support at the GIS Raya Celebration
The GIS Raya Celebration was also graced by the presence of the Chief Executive of GIS, Tengku Hasmadi Tengku Hashim, and the Head of School, Madam Azrina Aziz. Their attendance added significance to the event and showed strong support for student-led initiatives.
On the day of the celebration, students and lecturers showed up in their best attire, turning the whole place into a colourful scene. With vibrant decorations lighting up the area, the festive vibes were felt across the entire campus.
Traditional Feast and Event Highlights
Of course, the main attraction at the GIS Raya Celebration was the food. From rendang to nasi impit, there was plenty to go around. Attendees were seen going back for seconds (or thirds), while catching up with friends and chatting with lecturers in a relaxed setting.
The event featured several engaging activities, including:
- ‘Karok Raya’ Sessions: Singing performances where students and lecturers showcased their musical talents.
- Best-Dressed Competition: A fashion showcase highlighting traditional attire and creative outfits.
- Community Bonding: An opportunity for students to connect with peers and faculty members outside the classroom.
Strengthening the Campus Community
More than anything, the GIS Raya Celebration was a great reminder of how cultural events bring people together. It was not just about Raya; it was about enjoying the moment, connecting with others, and taking a well-deserved break from the usual campus routine.
